Whee... went to Tokyo yesterday. Got dragged around a museum with free exhibits in Ueno Park by some man that was lecturing me about manners and young people, etc... It was a new experience.
Picked up Sun 3 today - remember, the new series I was going on about?
(see below)
I think I'm going to start getting the Mystery Bonita magazine...
Only other thing of note...
I had the worst hangover of my life - at work!
Nothing does in your reputation like almost passing out in front of a student when you're trying to dash to the toilet.
...
Oh well, my boss was spewing, too.
Kirishima Tamaki and Tsuji Rikako - two more recent huge favorites of mine. Their art styles may not be what you're used to, but both grow on you rapidly and their stories are great!

I hate summer in Japan.
It's hot and wet and there's never a breeze - just a wind that blows everything away...
Okay, it isn't that bad, and I don't really hate it, but it isn't altogether pleasant.
In other news -- nothing much. I still like my job and most of my students... I still haven't gone anywhere truly exciting... I still don't have much of a social life...
But I did get a great new manga series! It's published by Bonita Comics, it's a really great Japanese historical piece about an Edo era executioner (kubikiri) for the Shogun... It's SUN by Tsuji Rikako. I love it and I can't wait for volume 3 to come out this month! The main character (Yamada Yoshihiro, the 4th Yamada Asaemon) is beautiful and tortured (every time he cuts off a criminal's head, he has a TB-like attack of coughing up blood) and the other characters are strong and likeable. It's very sad at points but the strength of the friendships in there keep it from being dark. I highly recommend it.
;.; Too bad Key Jack 4 (another by Shiomi Chika) isn't coming out until August 21... It has such a loveable former transexual in it...

Wheee...
Is it hard for all of you to think of me as a teacher?
Apparently it's hard enough for my sister to think of me as a full-time worker... -.-;
Methinks I have a new mangaka to add to my favorites list: Morimoto Shuu. I love Jijyou Houretsuden (I think that's it). The panda is too cute and the main characters are so loveable. And, I like the art style. I'll have to try G-Defend too, and pick up the illustration book next time I'm in Manga Frontier.
Yay! There are so many used bookstores in Numazu, and a manga store... And a nice cafe near my appartment w/ a cute dog and friendly staff!
If I could only get some of the fucking people in my building to stop bugging me when they're pissed (I mean drunk, for those of you who are not or not living with a bunch of Brits)... and to decrease my suddenly increased usage of the f-word!
So much to do, so little time!
And so much mayonaise on the food! I don't know why!
06:53 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003
Well, here I am in an internet cafe in the Shizuoka area in Japan.
I have lots of new (used) manga! Wai, Matsukawa Yuriko! Tanabe Mayumi! Asami Yuu! Ashibe Yuuho! Nanahoshi Akimi! All my favorites!
And Japanese food...
Work's going well.
And some random Japanese man stopped his car next to me in the street asking me to be his friend!

Eheh... another long dry spell...
Well, I've been busy.
I just got back from visiting aunt, uncle, and cousin in Tucson (with my evil twin). Had lots of time to chat, eat my aunt's gourmet cooking, play with their dog, and enjoy culture, nature, and booze...
Went to the Desert Museum there... went to the Gallery of the Sun (DeGrazia Museum)... went out with my cousin and tried Irish Car Bombs (shot of Bailey's dropped into half a glass of Guiness)... And came back from a sunny, warm Saguaro-filled desert to chilly rain...
In other news...
I found it interesting, watching What a Girl Wants and seeing the woman who played Miss Bingley in the A&E/BBC version of Pride and Prejudice playing the snotty woman after Colin Firth's character in this movie, too...
Got new luggage and suits for my move and new job...
And have departure date for leaving the country set for May 7th...
Not much else to say at the moment...
*squeak* ... (you know, I really do squeak...)
03:32 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2003
Well, things have been interesting for me, lately...
My evil twin and I threw a party Friday night. We had fun playing host, for the most part, and though there were too many people here for our apartment, they were mostly well-behaved.
It was just another GIA party, apparently... Except that some guy (who had all the gay guys and half the girls at the party drooling over him) took his dick out in my kitchen (for which I'll never forgive him) and some people put cigarettes out in my plants!
Wheee... still need to finish cleaning...
After that, on Saturday, we went to visit our parents and see the play my bro's former group was performing.
The stage version of Steel Magnolias is more emotional, I think. And afterwards, we joined a friend (who played Truvy) in drinks... and dancing. Impromptu dancing started up at the bar, and I got dragged out by a middle-aged woman to dance with her middle-aged male friends... which wouldn't have been a problem except that the second one kept pulling me too close and squishing my boobs against him!
grrrr
Anyhoot, it was family dinner on Sunday, and heading home on Monday... and now I'm catching up on sleep... And not drinking (of course, more booze Friday night, then some wine Sat, and a margarita Sun)...
Will say nothing about current collapse of world order as we know it and about the raving idiot in the White House (worst thing to come out of the Lone Star State since the Texas conglomerate)...
Think happy thoughts...
Which is hard when my brother-in-law (second sister's husband) is being sent to Kuwait with his Army unit/division/whatever while my sister is close to term with their second child (and the first only almost 2)...
...I suppose I should be ashamed of my escapist attitude, but what really are my alternatives? Follow every last detail of the conflicts until I'm numbed, inured or worse? Speak out and not be listened to at all by people whose minds are already made up and believe they walk some path of righteousness, until I'm gunned down as a "Commie" by some foam-mouthed NRA member?
sigh
At least the mental image of Saddam Hussein holding up a weapon and crying, "From my cold, dead hand!" offers some slightly morbid amusement...
...
I need more time with my friends...

/Nezumi thinks 'I'm a little plastered and not entirely coherent at the moment -- what better time to make an overdue post?'/
Okay, so, after a vanilla coke and spiced rum, 1 and 3/4 shots 151, and a tropico and 7-up, I'm not really that bad.
Actually, I'm very well indeed (been rereading 19th century English novels lately, and I acquired the DVD of the A&E/BBC version of Pride and Prejudice). I finally met this friend of my evil twin's, and he brought a friend who seems to be my long lost sister! Well, this guy likes the Moody Blues, Jane Austen, men in empire dress, shots of 151, etc -- so we decided we're long-lost "sisters!"
Other than that...
Disappointed with most recent movies seen in the theater, but much enjoyed Gosford Park on a Starz package preview... Really liking new ABC show Miracles... Sad that next week sees the end of the Farscape TV series...
Really, not much to relate since lo~ts of rum dims the importance of anything but new friends and good-looking men...
...
Oh yeah... I also wanted to mention that coming across fics that actually have the lines "he had genitals" doesn't help get me back into fanfiction...
...

Oooo... vodka and semi-coherent songfics don't mix...
Whee... at random actually read something sent into an ML recently... Haven't been paying much attention really, since I've been bored with fandom lately...
Anyhoot... not really partying tonight, but...
Last week, met and really talked to our new neighbors. I think I've confirmed now that they are a couple (two guys), but my brother's friend calls them a "troll couple." Okay, so they're neither that young nor that pretty (and that friend was tripping when he saw them leave in matching outfits one day), but they are nice and really easy to talk to (we agreed that Ann Rice had gotten steadily crappy since "The Vampire Lestat" and discussed Fantasy/Sci-fi novels).
Yeah, so tonight, my brother is going out with friends, and as he's leaving, I hear our neighbors say "hello" to him. So, I go out to say hello, and they invite me to share some Cosmos with them (they're at least a decade older than I am, and it's their first time having Cosmopolitans, go fig). So, have drinks, start talking, then I mention the vanilla vodka my bro and I just got, so I end up making 50-50 bar martinis for us (vanilla vodka and triple sec) -- which means a lot more vodka...
Yeah, so... it is so nice to have neighbors with whom one can converse and trade martinis...
And this will surely have to beat last night. Friday night -- all alone at home, with only "Farscape" to keep me company (and cats)... and my brother calling me at 3:30 in the morning -- when I've finally managed to get to sleep -- to get things ready for some friends that need to crash...
At least I had some company tonight... and I don't know that anyone will need to crash here tonight...
Oh... speaking of Farscape... I am getting sadder by the week that Sci-Fi is axing that show. ;.;
It's such a good show. And I frequently get the impression that it is the show most in touch with it's fanbase! I mean, I think they deliberately put in scenes that hint at tension between characters, even should they both be male... Although, I think I was more *ick* than otherwise at the scene of Scorpy sucking on Crichton's finger...
...
Whoo... just as well that I'm finally getting to blogging when I'm not all here...
Otherwise, I'd be bitching more about President Bush-whacker...
...and how much I was annoyed at the thought of the network censoring any anti-war sentiments at the Grammy Awards...
So much for freedom of speech. It makes me think of how the Smothers Brother got cancelled for speaking against the Vietnam War...
And, interestingly enough, the Smothers Brothers don't like the current situation with Iraq.
I mean, doeas Bush know how paranoid he sounds half the time? And don't the people who are really controlling his "presidency" know how much they are hurting the United States in the UN?
The US was a major factor in creating the United Nations -- how can that raving moron in the White House expect to both keep international support and maintain a strong United Nations, if the US goes to war against Iraq no matter what?
It's as if he's saying, "No one should go against the UN, unless it's the United States of America."
We say that we should try to lead by example in the US... and this is our example?
Well, we couldn't get the terrorist who provoked attacks against us, so we'll go for our old enemy (G. W. Bush's daddy's enemy), who mainly became an enemy over oil (it seems -- and gas prices rise out of control anyway)...
Forget that it will more likely be relatively innocent people that die on both sides as Saddam and whatever illegal weapons he might have survive (and some weapons that the US actually gave Iraq when we were so worried about Iran)...
And Bush-whacker continues to alienate most of our foreign allies, reduce tolerance in our own country, and screw the environment...
...
Why, oh why, couldn't Elizabeth Dole have gotten the Republican nomination?
Anyone else think the world would be a better place if ruled by women?
...So much for not ranting...
But hopefully that got it out of my system for a while.
Although, I'm sure I'll be called unpatriotic by the masses....
Not that I've ever cared.
I'm not someone who sings "God Bless America" when patriotism is the latest fad, and then complains about too high taxes and people "abusing freedom" in the next breath.
...
Whee... ranting done, and club soda kicking in...
Belated Happy Birthday to you!
I might have a little something for you, too... although, I still owe a veeerryyy belated something to someone else.
Hm... other nice things to say...
Liked the mive Daredevil.
Like the recently new ABC series Miracles.
May have got neighbor interested in Mark Anthony's Last Rune series. ^__^
Oh, something else I have to mention while I'm in the over-talkative (over-typative) mood: the news.
I swear sometimes, everything you need to know about being a criminal, you can learn from the news. They not only tell you what places have low security, but all the ways you can get by that security. They tell you where you can go to learn about making dangerous substances, etc. They tell you all the things by which police can trace you. And now, they give criminals new ideas...
Why waste time and effort cutting power lines for an operation, when one of those metallic birthday ballons (they called it mylar, I think) can takes out seceral city blocks for hours if it touches power lines!
Well, maybe there's more to it than that... But I still have a low opinion of the media.
And I'll stop on that point now...
Hmmm... back to something happy...
...umm... One of the recent Dead Zone episodes was somewhat uplifting -- the one with the blood donors.
...
And I was reminded today how much a comedic movie you've seen before becomes funny again when you share it with people who haven't seen it before.
Shared laughter is such a wonderful thing.
As are new friends of any kind.
On that note,
Cheers!

I wonder if any of my friends are still bothering to read this?
Ehehehe... I haven't been feeling very internet-loving lately.
Well, if anyone cares, I'm still alive! =P
And I'll soon be making a big move in a few months!
To where?
Well, it'll be somewhere with more takoyaki than Balboa Park!
I got a job teaching English in Japan!!!
WAAIII~~~!
I'm very excited.
Ah, I look forward to Japanese cel phones, manga shopping, noodle shops, easy public transportation, friends and family visiting me there...
I'll also have more reasons to dress nicely and have a resume-building job. Woo-hoo!
Otherwise... well... if I get slightly less lazy, I might have my webpage back up...
And a new project with you-know-who is still in the works.
...
I suppose I'd better at least get this joint updated... Gotta update some links... Change some info...
We shall see...

...
...Ehehehehe...
...Anyway... I'm alive and I just saw The Two Towers for the second time tonight.
Wheee...
Well, I love Aragorn even more now, and my sister and I agree that we like Legolas much more now that we've seen him do some cool moves. Well, that and show more heart... He's more than a pretty face now!
And now for some slightly spoiler-esque comments...
Well, I can't compare with the book, since I've never read it and probably never will. I dunno why... Anywho, my evil twin and I both love the part where the Ents fight! Hey, Sarumon asked for it!
But will this be banned in lumber towns like the book The Lorax now?
And is it wrong of me to be more upset about Ents getting hurt than humans and Elves dying (thank goodness the burning Ent put itself out!)?
Not that that Elf-captain guy's death didn't affect me -- it did...
Still... I cringe at the thought of the increased LotR slash...
Aragorn and Legolas -- no.
Frodo and Sam -- HELL NO!
~Insert my rant about devaluing friendship here.~
Yep... especially feeling ranty about that since I just spent some quality time with my best friend and some family members...
And other that that... Who actually gets anything out of imagining them together? And even with Legolas's pretty face, I don't get any happy slash thoughts about him...
Oh, and even not knowing the book, I thought it was too short!
...
Oh, and loved the friendly competition between Dwarf and Elf! ^_^
And loved the music (got the OST for X-mas)... Especially like the Rohan theme...
And loved the effects...
And did anyone else notice that some guy in the credits had the nickname "Sasquatch!?"
...
Yep... so... had a merry X-mas and hope y'all did, too.
Only other gift I'll mention is my stuffed Jack Skellington (from The Nightmare Before Christmas)... ^__^

Note 1: As of today... most of my page will be offline until I take the time to move it somewhere else, since I refuse to pay anything for "free" space.
Two...
Get up this morning, and here's a note from my brother:
Back around 12:30 - be ready to see 1:25 show of HP
Yes, so I saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
YYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^___^ All I'll say for now is that Jason Isaacs makes a most convincing Lucius Malfoy...
And watch through the entire credits, everyone! ^___^
yay!
05:59 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2002
YAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!!
My baby is home!
...
That is to say, my laptop came back from the Sony people, and it's working again!
Okay, Sony's getting good marks from me here. I call in, a polite person tries to help, and when that doesn't work, I have to send the laptop in. The box, with shipping labels, etc is there for me the next day, and they pay for next day shipping to send it in. Exactly a week after I shipped it (it took me a while to get it sent in -.-;), it's back to me, good as new!
Ah, the beauty of warranty and decent service.
Oh, and I saw Ghost Ship today.
Everyone else, save your money. I was laughing at most of the points where I was supposed to be screaming or grossed out.
It was that predictable and badly written, directed, whatever...
The Bond preview looked good, though -- especially the part where John Cleese's character takes pot-shots at 007.
Oh... and looking in the paper... I want to see Lan Yu! Now I just have to figure out where the Ken Cinema in Kensigton is, and find someone to see a Chinese, gay love story with me!
*kyuu*

Ooohhhh....
I saw "The Lion King" msuical in Hollywood last night.
It was... wow!
We got stuck in traffic, so we missed the first 5 scenes, ;.; but it was still amazing!
And the singing voice of "Nala!"
...And the joke "Zazu" made about the curtains... ehehehe...
Oh yes, I still think Zazu is my favorite Lion King character...
Anyway... don't really feel like saying anything else right now, except that I looked over some of my manga that I already read... and I really want more of some of them!!!!!
...

Well... I'm still alive.
I just haven't been in the blogging mood lately.
No real exciting news or anything...
I've tried some new teas that I really like, including a sakura tea that we picked up at Tea Pavilion. Oh, and I sent for a catalog from Stash (they didn't make the other teas we tried, but my evil twin has been bitching about wanting almond tea, and I would like a tangerine tea). So, should have some nice tea goodness to satisfy us until World Market can get their backorder of lavender tea...
Let's see... also tried some new wines... One good Merlot, one not-so-good Merlot, and a nice blend, if you like lighter reds. Personally, I like robust red wines.
Whee... Which image were you referring to that last time? The image on the TnT ML with light lovey-ness? Or the image of Muraki being defeated by the pot shiki? =P
Ehehe... I know I've been bombarding you with images lately, but it would be funny if Muraki being laid out by Daion was what sparked you most. ^_^;
...And now, I have tv shows to watch... =P
It's a fiendish thingie!
02:16 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2002
"And the sky opened up and God said, 'I hate you!'"
Okay... that's an overreaction... but...
Bad enough I couldn't properly watch West Wing last night.
Bad enough that my mood's been more down than up lately.
Now...
;.;
My not even 2-months old laptop isn't working.
;.;
Called tech support, spent a lot of time on the phone w/ the rep, and they're mailing me a box to send it in to Sony.
;.;
Waaaaaaaaah!
You needn't worry too much -- nothing irretrievable of our project was lost -- just part of chapter 2's script... and my usage of Photoshop Elements.
I just gotta think happy thought...
My 2nd oldest sister is pregnant again -- happy news... except she wasn't quite ready for it again...
Still -- baby coming to loving parents is always good news.
^_^
cheer me up?

What could be nicer than a Kahlua and cream?
...
How about a Kahlua and Irish Cream! ^_^
Um, yeah... Tell me, y'all does this next bit make me an irretrievable nerd?
...So, dial-flipping around noon today, and out of all the surprising good choices of things to watch, what do I pick?
...
A drum and bugle corp competition!
Kyaaa! I am a nerd!
Let's see... other than that...
Got some writing and stuff done...
And, I'm going to spread the evil!
I'm going to try and tempt more fanartists with the image of Tatsumi in Empire dress! (think Tatsumi as Jane Austen hero!)
=D~ Ah, it's as yummy as my after-dinner drink!
...
05:21 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2002
Whee... doing lots of laundry today... But it's okay, since the weather is neither too hot nor too cold.
Only problem is the number of times I have to go up and down the stairs and across the car-port area to get to our complex's laundry room.
And the fact that although there are 2 washers and driers, I can only do 2 loads at a time if one of them can dry at medium or high heat. The bottom drier there doesn't dry at all on delicate/ low heat and most of our clothing is "tumble dry low." So, only the towels could go double this time around...
Hehe... also had an example today of how life is more interesting with cats.
For once, I let them come into my room while I was sorting/pre-treating/readying laundry. They love dirty clothes and the laundry basket...
Here's me, trying to use the basket as I always do to get the right load size for the washer, and there's a cat laying and purring in it...
...ANd he keeps laying and purring as I cover him in laundry and then move the basket...
They're very silly cats...
Ho-hum...
So, I check my email this morning, and went "Yay, an email from Leareth!"
...
And then I went "Leareth no baka!"
It was just a forward...
=P
But hey, I might actually fill out that questionaire thingie this time...
Whee... I think we have a rather nifty project on our hands now, Tasia.
I wasn't all that excited before, but now I'm getting pretty caught up in the whole thing!
And don't you worry. I'll do a Nakano layout eventually!
And I know what you mean about soaps in Spanish, actually... A couple years ago or so, I got myself hooked on Maria Isabel despite scarcely knowing any Spanish...
...
And that makes me think of dial-flipping past the channels that show them, and usually seeing people crying... Except last time I was dial-flipping past a Spanish-language channel, it was some news or variety program and they were showing some random shot of 2 guys making out quite publicly.
...
Hooray!
^_^;
And as for you!
=P
You embarass me -- but in a good way. =P
And, you make me hungry, even when you don't talk about yummy cake, since Balboa Park tends to make me think of takoyaki...
mmmm...
And now, I have to kick a cat off my lap and get some clothes out of the drier... and into the drier... and into the washer...
"send me a postcard / drop me a line"
02:20 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2002
Hey look, everyone! I changed the layout!
Yep, with 2 half-votes making 1 whole vote, Sakaki from Canon was the winner!
And there was much rejoicing.
Anyway, if any elements look familiar, or this seems way too good to have been done by me...
It's because I cut and pasted html from the last layout...
You don't mind, do you,Leareth? I mean... it was a gift...
/Makes puppy eyes/
Alright... about the picture. Val really liked the fang-baring face shot and this one. I opted for this one. The main thing I wanted to do was make the blood red, so it would stand out.
Not being that great yet at using my Adobe Photoshop Elements, it took me quite a while and I'm still not happy with the blood color.
Oh well... But blood on black is this layout's theme...
...
Oh, and the title of the page is Japanese for, basically "fall into the crimson night."
...
I couldn't bloody think of anything else!
And I hope everyone is happy with the red text here... I had to play around with colors because what looked good on my laptop looked unreadable on the desktop, and what was right for here just looked distressingly bright on the laptop...
*sigh*
Ho-hum... also added some more changes to my profile-y thing. I put in more categories so y'all can get to not know me better.
And I updated some addictions, TV shows, etc, and added 1 more man to my kidnap list...
Yep, a designer from Changing Rooms, Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen!
...
Don't look at me like that! I know it's kind of strange (I mean, I don't even share his decorating tastes ... and Graham Norton said Lawrence makes him feel butch...) but...
It must be the leather pants....
*YAWN* That's all for now.
Hope y'all like the new layout.
oyasumi...

Fuu~ ... It's been cold and rainy here lately...
The rain I don't mind.
The cold weather makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning...
Whee! I added some new friends over to the side there! Wai! Atarashii otomodachi! Atarashii otomodachi!
*SMACK*
/snaps out of Akazukin ChaCha mode/
Anyway, we have:
-Radishface's livejournal. Radishface-san is the one who created the new wonderland, Tatsumi x Tsuzuki shrine! ... and also has good taste in classical music!
-And, Val -- the only other person (other than Tasia) to cast a vote for my layout biseinen!
Whee... and some comments for Val even!
-I adore Utada Hikaru's Hikari, too!
-Eh... I've never had problems with my Liquid2k account... But my problem with Brinkster is that they give you so little bandwidth that if you have a site that uses all their space, not even 1 person could look at your whole site in a month!
-And I'm so glad you enjoyed that site! There are some absolutely adorable pics there, as well as some yummy ones!
-And I think Sakaki the vampire wins the competition. =P And I guess I'll use the pic that has blood in it, since this site hasn't been dark in a while. ^_^
Hmm... I also asked someone to do a layout for the Chevalier, once I rescan some pictures... Please?
/Makes puppy eyes that worked on male teachers in high school/
Pretty please with sugar on top?
^_^
Yeah, so I want to do all the biseinen (that came out wrong) eventually, but our vampire is first. ^_^
Hmm... thinking ahead... First Halloween in new apartment...
I don't know if we'll get trick-or-treaters. It's a nice neighborhood, and Vista isn't a big city...
And it's mostly old folks around our apartment complex...
Well, I think I should get some candy just in case.
If no one comes, I get to keep it. =D
For some reason, I felt inspired to share a new temporary file here. Warning, it's almost entirely bad language, but I doubt any of you care! =P Anyway, it's a sound file describing a word...
Here it is!
Oh, and I was attacked by yet another story idea!
Someone, of course, got some more details and perhaps the rest of you will soon!
And that's all for now!
